While the automakers are having trouble tire makers are doing fine. Cooper, once known for just making tires for race cars, saw a seven percent year-over-year rise in its profits for the first quarter. That led to a record first quarter of earnings of $514 million. It seems we all need tires and Cooper is upping its premium performance and light truck tires. They were up 32 percent and eight percent respectively. Anyone run on Cooper tires? Thoughts?
