Volvo has beefed up their computer firepower with more than 150 IBM eServer 325 machines that will help decrease the amount of time it takes to perform crash simulations. The Volvo setup is expected to become the auto industry's fastest Linux clusters. Without the new IBM computers, Volvo could only run one crash simulation each night. Now they are able to run two a day and save money by decreasing the amount of physical crash test simulations needed.
