For those who aren't content to get their oil pumped through the barrel of a G.I's assault rifle (we kid, we kid) biodiesel is the next best way of getting your commuting fix. While the DIYers mixed their own biodiesel rendered from fast food waste oil, World Energy Alternatives in Chelsea Massachusetts has taken it to the next step with a crop based fuel. With standard diesel hitting well over $2 a gallon, $2.54 for a gallon soybean derived biodiesel doesn't seem so bad.
