Chrysler recalls 468,700 Jeep Grand Cherokees, Commanders over rollaway risk
Chrysler has issued a recall covering a combined 469,000 units of the 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2006-2010 Jeep Commander (inset). Of that number, 295,000 are in the US, roughly 33,000 in Canada and Mexico and the remainder in other markets. It seems an electrical fault in the transfer case can allow the affected SUVs to shift into neutral on their own, while an Associated Press report says that Chrysler had "found cracks in a circuit board that turns the four-wheel-drive system on and off." The issue was discovered when an owner started his car remotely and it rolled away. ... Read More

The problem in question involves a retaining clip for the brake booster input rod – part of the brake hydraulics – which could be either be deformed or missing entirely. The automotive sales sector is in a major state of flux as consumers continue to run from SUVs and pickup trucks into smaller, more fuel efficient cars. Press: Chrysler to cut its SUV offerings in half 1206365280
It's no secret that Chrysler has some overlapping models in its lineup. Case(s)-in-point: it's hard to make a rational argument that Jeep should be offering both the Compass and Patriot (not to mention Dodge selling the Patriot's platform sibling, the Caliber) or the Grand Cherokee and the Commander. The Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango barely pretend to ...

Those of you rolling in a new 2007 or 2008 Jeep Commander or Grand Cherokee, take note. Chrysler is recalling 28,755 vehicles due to front-brake calipers made out of gray iron, instead of ductile iron, which could cause the clamper to fracture and cease halting forward progress. The recall affects models built between May 17 and July 13, and we'd expect ...

Jeep UK wins top honors in green 4x4 awards 1183037220
Guess what? Jeep's the greenest. Thanks to increased fuel economy in the company's diesel 4x4s (compared to previous years), Jeep UK has won the Gold Award in a leading Green Awards scheme (to be clear, "scheme" is Jeep's choice of words, not mine. This is the UK division we're talking about here, and I don't think scheme has the same connotations across ...
