Overview
The Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid gives drivers yet another fuel efficient choice in this broad German-engineered model line. The Jetta Hybrid is powered by a 150-hp 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a hybrid-first seven-speed dual-clutch (DSG) automatic transmission. The engine is assisted by a 33-hp electric motor and 220-volt lithium-ion battery pack with auto stop-start and regenerative braking. Altogether, the hybrid system generates 170-hp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. Other efficiency adding features include a unique aero body, electric steering, an E-Mode to increase battery-only driving and coasting which decouples the engine when the accelerator is released. Standard safety features provided are six air bags, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with hill-hold assist, electronic stability program, brake assist, seatbelt pretensioners and traction control. After debuting in 2013, the 2014 Jetta Hybrid gets a paint color change and a rear view camera has been added to the SEL trim.
