Skoda Octavia RS 230 packs a sleeper's punch

We can't quite put our finger on it, but there's always something we've kinda loved about the Škoda Octavia RS. (Or at least this writer has, anyway.) It's like a VW GTI or Seat Leon Cupra, only a bit more of a sleeper. Plus it's the only one of the trio that's available as a sedan (in addition to a wagon), and will run circles around the VW Jetta GLI. Especially in this latest spec.

Aside from revealing the new Superb flagship sedan at the Geneva Motor Show this year, Škoda also brought out the new Octavia RS 230. With a 2.0-liter turbo four kicking out 227 horsepower, it packs 30 more horsepower than the version that came before and some subtle enhancements to the trim and equipment, but not so much as to give it away. Especially in white, which will probably get it mistaken for a cab or police car in most countries where it's sold rather than the autobahn stormer it really is.

After all, 0-62 in 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 miles per hour may not make it the fastest new piece of kit revealed in Geneva this year, but you'll never see it coming. (Especially in America, where you'll never see it at all.)
