If you've got money and taste, you might choose a new Bentley or Rolls-Royce. But if you've only got the former, you might be more inclined to go with a Maybach. In fact, as often as Phantoms show up in hip-hop videos, we're pretty sure the only people buying Maybachs are Daimler executives and rap stars.

Case in point, the latest music video from Jay-Z and Kanye West. With plenty of Benjamins between them to burn, the hip-hop mega stars take a new Maybach limousine and shred it up all Mad Max style in the video for "Otis," the single off their latest collaboration Watch the Throne. Follow the jump to see them make their own Landaulet on a budget with a blowtorch while they wax lyrical about their Benz, their other Benz and their other other Benz.

From where they came to where they are today, I think it's fair to say they're perfectly free to do whatever the heck they want with their hard earned money. If people can't see the American dream captured in these visuals and lyrics, then you must be blinded by hate and ignorance.

The american dream is taking an expensive vehicle, cutting it up and ghettorigging a bodykit out of flat pieces of sheet metal without the use/skill of an english wheel? Cool. My dream is to actually create nice looking cars, not something you'd see in a trailer park.

Did anyone even watch to the end, about the car being auctioned with the profits going to benefit the disaster in East Africa?

If they really gave a crap about the disaster in East Africa they would have auction off the car without ruining it. Be worth more money. I expect stupidity like this from kanye west, we all know he's a moron. What i didn't expect was him to be teamed up with JayZ

Shallow people....Music is art, expression. If this is how they wanted to express themselves then so be it. Stop being so quick to judge people..

So tired of hearing hip hop is dead... well my question is do you really listen to music or just the beat. You have Artist like Wale, Jcole, Big Kritt, BOB, Kid cudi, Lupe fiasco etc still providing well lyrical talents... I listen to so much different music but I choose the right ones and filter the crap... bc there is crap in everything. But anyway If they wanted to trash the Maybach so be it... uptight individuals that don't know the meaning of living... live your life period...

Agreed. The Otis Redding song they slaughtered was much better.
