Thor trailer - Click above to watch the video after the jump

Get ready for Marvel Comics and Paramount Pictures to rule commercial time leading up to their new Thor movie that premiers on May 6. The film, which will be followed up with Captain America later this summer, follows two Iron Man movies and the 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Those films make up the lengthy run-up to the release of The Avengers movie next summer that will feature all the good guys on one silver screen.

Predictably, Thor will be jammed with corporate sponsors and product placements, which will lead to still more Thor commercials. Even Acura has gotten in on the act, as the upscale Honda brand has nabbed the roll as the vehicle of choice for the good guys at S.H.I.E.L.D., who are working hard to get all the superheros on the same team (hello, Avengers). Acura, whose corporate styling language already involves the shield-shaped front fascia that so many have complained about, were more interested in the role due to S.H.I.E.L.D's high-tech, cutting edge reputation. The automaker will reportedly receive an amazing two minutes of air time during the movie, and Acura even allowed the bad guys to blow up some of its vehicles.

Acura no doubt paid big bucks to get all that screen time, but that's not all it plans to do. Variety reports that Acura will push the movie in commercials, while also hosting Thor events at local dealerships that include giving away some tickets for advanced screenings. Hit the jump to watch the latest movie trailer. Top tip, Stewie!

Bad choice S.H.I.E.L.D. very bad choice.
S.H.I.E.L.D. uses Acuras. I see what you did there...

...or at least, I would if the 2007 MDX's design language had become the dominant theme over at Acura. Maybe the spy agency should be named B.E.A.K. instead?
Well, at least we have one thing to look forward to--the bad guys smashing up ugly Acuras. Hopefully they'll remember to mash that nasty front end in.

        B.E.A.K.

What better car is there to be shot at, rocketed, and blown up?

I sure hope that Thor takes his hammer to that ugly B.E.A.K.

Anyone feel like the makers of Thor are the only people to actually purchase an RDX? (http://pushroad.com/tags/r/50758). I never see them driving around!
Instead of having silly spies in a sillier movie drive around in the silliest vehicle ever (ZDX), maybe Acura could increase their sales presence by:

      (1) taking a TSX,
      (2) shoehorning the RDX's turbocharged K23 under the hood,
      (3) shoehorning an SH-AWD system in, and
      (4) throwing in an optional 6MT for good measure.

I mean, this is elementary school paint-by-numbers stuff. Why hasn't this happened yet?
        Scent of Understanding--

No, the TSX isn't half-bad. Of all the current Acuras to criticize, it'd be the second-last for me (the last being the TL SH-AWD 6MT, wich is actually pretty awesome despite the schnoz). Not only is the TSX the best-looking current Acura, but it offers a nice premium feel and good features for under $30k. If they gave it the K23 and SH-AWD, Audi would be sweating bullets. As is, it's no competitor for the BMW/Audi crowd, but it sure has caused a lot of heartache at Volvo, Saab, VW, etc.

As one commenter above suggested, how about they:

        1) take a TSX
        2) have Thor smash it with his hammer

        Does that work for you?
Better if they smash the silly ZDX.

And if my eyes don't deceive me, there's one in frame, on the right side.

      Tight!
Why would they ruin a potentially very good movie with such ugly cars?
I think it was the other way around for the Transformers films.
it was in the last year iron man 2 already...
Not officially. If you look where the badge goes it's blurred out.
Can the bad guys reference the jacked-up nose as they demolish the cars?

Oops, that would make them the good guys.
" as the upscale Honda brand"

      Wait.. what?
You do realize that Acura is owned by Honda, right?
I see the Honda/Acura fanboi wankers are out in force this morning, downrating anyone who dares state the new corporate Acura grille is ugly. Shame if they really think it is appealing.

With that being said, I think the choice to use Acura is brilliant. Why? When the bad guys see an Acura come around the corner, what are they compelled to do? Fight? Heck no. Theyll either doze off, run away in horror, or go blind. Its a brilliant move to use Acura! That way Thor doesnt have to raise a pinky to fight. He can just drive a TL around the corner, sip his latte, and let the Acura scatter them in fear.

OUI - It was at the end of Iron Man 2...I do however think they "Greeked" the "A" Acura on the front grill. Basically it looks like they covered it up for some reason. Perhaps for this quick insert clip they did not have Acura signed up yet.

Thor sounds a bit like Clarkson: loud, brash, likes to destroy things with hammers.
