2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 laps Laguna Seca – Click above to watch video after the jump

The 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 configurator has gone live, and if you're not ready to plunk down the cash (real or imaginary) for one just yet, we have just the video to help convince you that the $40,000+ you need to spend will be worth it. Motor Trend has taken the Boss 302 for a spin around Laguna Seca, and the lap time is very impressive.

What does that mean exactly? Well, owners of the Ford Mustang GT500, BMW M3 and even the Audi R8 should be very nervous if a Boss 302 shows up at the track. Click past the jump to see what we're talking about. Thanks for tipping like a Boss, Brian!

The dude who got to drive that is a lucky son of a gun.
I think he was a pretty skillful son of a gun as well.
Pretty sure that was Jonathan Bomarito, a Rolex GT driver.

He gets to drive race cars for a living so yes he is lucky.....and skilled.

Where are the naysayers now? Long gone are the days of bad-handling Mustangs. Meet the new breed, ladies n gentlemen. Youll more than likely get very familiar with the Mustang's rear end when on a racetrack with one. ;-)

        Wow... simply... wow.

Those days of the Evo and STi referred to as the supercar slayers are no more.

Say hello to the new, best bang for the bucks.

Impressive work Ford, you're just blowing my mind every time you come up with something new.

Ok... I'm checking out the Boss's website now... lol

      WOW
Ford, please oh please DO NOT LIMIT the production of BOSS Mustangs
Run like Z06, I heard 1/3 of all vettes are Z06
Ford should you want to sell a million Mustangs like in the 60's, make ALOT of these so that many of us can buy one for $40k and race it....and them more people will see and buy even more Mustangs....
Please don't do a "2000 Cobra R" where dealers up them up HUGE and never saw them at the track...... and now no one knows/remembers that car....

Popular Mechanics compared the Challenger to the M3. Apples and elephants.
        That was a reply to

"Why do people keep bothering to compare the M3 to Mustang (;"

I know this is just a bit tongue in cheek as a way to intro your sedan rendering, but I don't see how NOT making a Mustang sedan is blasphemy of any kind. Most people would probably view it the other way around if Ford went that route.

That is just friggin amazing. Faster than an R8... wow,..... just WOW!
