Top Gear defects to Forza Motorsport – Click above for video after the jump

It seems everyone is losing their patience waiting for Gran Turismo 5 to arrive in November. Apparently, that includes Top Gear, which is now lending its name to special features in the upcoming Forza Motorsports 3 Ultimate Collection edition that's due in stores this month.

The new content includes the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Koenigsegg CCX and Lexus LF-A, which make up a pack called Stig's Garage. (What, no Toyota Aygo?) There's also a free 90-minute video compilation produced exclusively for Forza and an Xbox LIVE premium dashboard theme. The makers of Forza Motorsport also say that future collaborations with Top Gear are also planned.

In addition to the Top Gear content, the Ultimate Collection includes every previously released Forza 3 add-on pack, plus seven new cars: It's almost enough to make a guy want to ditch his PS3. Hurry, Gran Turismo...

Want to see how the two games stack up? Take a look after the jump for videos of each.

Love the looks of that Mercedes SLS AMG up front. Notice the long, lean design cues? Why can't the "Big 3" incorporate that look in such cars as the Camaro, Challenger, Mustang, and Corvette, instead of making them all look more tall and chunky.

During the middle of the game, does The Stig quit because he wants to publish his memoirs?

I noticed on their website that the 10 "exclusive" cars the newest edition will come with are only accessible via content download, not on a disc like all of the other previously download-only packs.

With the hoi polloi unable to download anything from this new car pack, I can only assume that this means the only people who will see your snazzy car whilst racing online is yourself and anyone else who has the newest edition.

Never considered purchasing an X-box or any gaming console for that matter....until I read "Lancia 037".

Lame lame lame, 1st this is a slap in the face to early adopters, thanks a lot turn10, a-holes.

2nd, could they be any more obviously "me-too" copy-cat about this?!? Polyphony went for TopGear content because they wanted to, and because they thought it was a good idea, and because they thought car-guys would appreciate it, cool. It's obvious that the only reason turn10 is doing it, is because polyphony did it. Couldn't they at least get Fifth Gear?!? If this doesn't even have the track, then this is just marketing of the worst type.

"Turn 10, go play in the sandbox. Polyphony Digital needs to work now! Bye bye!"

If MS were smart to allow more third party wheel like logitech, I woulda bought Forza 3 a long time ago. Too bad MS like their control over peripherals and thus forcing me to buy a PS3 and GT5 when it comes out. Tsk tsk MS, tsk tsk.

I'm glad I'm not as patience as you. I gave up waiting for GT and made the switch to Forza. I will never go back to GT. Forza provided all the fun without years of agonizing wait and empty promises. It's like waiting for a new NSX from Honda when the GT-R is readily available.

Really looking forward to running around the Top Gear test track. I also can't believe GT5 has cars completely flipping over. Another sweet feature of GT5 is the ability to take GPS and telemetry from a real world car on a real world track and import it into game!

      GT5!!!

      Still no test track...

And I thought Stiggy hated the Koenigsegg?

Does Anyone know if GT5 will have the Bugatti Veyron? I definetily hope so!

Hmmm... Does Forza have (or will it have) the Veyron? If so, I need to make room for a new XBOX system :)

Yes forza III has the veyron.

to do top speed you load it up on the old Le Mans track.
Yes, there will be Bugatti Veryon in GT5. And unlike the one in Forza, the Veryon in GT5 will have a retractable rear spoiler (and this would apply to the AMG SLS and McLaren SLR, Audi R8, the Lexus LFA etc.- Forza 3 graphics engine doesn't do active spoiler).

@XGM You got to be kidding me. Froza 3's physics engine is vastly superior to the physics in GT5. The reason the graphics are lacking in Forza 3 is they put most of their time into the physics engine. Forza's physics are the best compared to practically any driving sim out there.

I'm not saying GT5 won't be amazing, but saying GT5 is more of a sim is a joke.

If you prefer somewhat of a game that is fun go for Forza. It is very playable with a controller, and tends to be quite forgiving. The online multiplayer has also taken a hit since launch and it can take a while to get a race up with other people. Beyond the multi there isnt much to challenge you, and maintain interest in it.

As for GT5, it leans much more on the simulation side.Looking at the new features and the previous time trial demo, GT5 is pretty much borderline to a true simulator. You do get the advantage of using pretty much any USB steering wheel with the PS3, which is a big plus. It seems much more promising as a long term game to keep interest within the players, heck GT5 prologue still has an active multiplayer for what people call a "30$ demo".

(tl;dr - Forza 3 is fun game, GT5 is almost sim. Wait till both are out)

Yes. Forza 3 has the Veyron 16.4 and Veyron SS. Don't forget the Ford Fusion Sport and Limon Green Mazda2!
Forza 3 has had the veyron since launch
Hint: best place to max it out is on the long straight at Le Mans
