2010 Jaguar XKR Goodwood Special – Click above for high-res image gallery

Jaguar has reportedly confirmed that a more powerful, more vicious version of the XKR will go into production later this year. According to Autocar, the car is based off of the XKR Goodwood Special (pictured), and has already lapped the Nürburgring in 7 minutes, 58 seconds during testing. Not bad at all.

Official details on powertrain and chassis upgrades haven't been revealed just yet, but if the Goodwood Special XKR is anything to go on, expect the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 to get a slight boost in power (for reference, the lime green XKR cranked out 530 horsepower and 515 pound-feet of torque), as well as a lowered suspension, tweaked exhaust and larger wheels. What's more, Jaguar has confirmed that this new XKR will have a top speed of at least 186 miles per hour (the all-important 300-kph mark in Germany).

Our only request: Keep the lime green paint in check. The Fiesta isn't the only car that can pull off citrus.

      Meh.

Nice car but I dont care for it really. The older XR gets my attention more.

Will this one last more than 4 laps around a track?

This car desperately needs a makeover. It has looked dated since it debuted.
yep... and this color does not help exactly either
      • 4 Years Ago
I don't think the car looks BAD.. it can kind of 'rock' the lime green, but another color wouldn't hurt it either.

Also, the new WRX lapped the 'ring in 7:55 - I would need the Jag to match or beat this time in order for me to purchase.

I'm sure Jeremy Clarkson will like this - he even seems to think the Jag has it's corresponding Aston brother trumped, regardless of how much more 'sport' is engineered in to it.

"This is definitely not a level of performance anyone would have associated with the XKR before now," Jaguar boss Mike O'Driscoll told Pistonheads.com when asked about the Nurburgring lap time.

Agreed! It was probably scary as (green) hell in that heavy RWD beast.

Is this really the look Jag is going for? looks like a morose turtle.

there was a time jags were not worth buying due to the electical issues, but those days are gone, and jags are vastly improved! im actually torn between the xj and the new bentley mulsanne, especially with its 505-hp and torque of 752 and 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds and the 21-speaker 2200-watt audio system!

i actually like that car. i think my statement was overreaching. but, i think there are too many alternatives. jaguar just doesn't make that car that stands out against its competition. I've actually considered jaguar myself because my i always liked my uncle's xj8. but jaguar's new models looks like Oldsmobile/Buick contraptions.

I've always liked the look of this model, cause it looked like an Aston Martin that I could afford to buy used one day.

The panel gaps in the hood of just about everyone of these I see makes me think it's just not well put together.

sorry nothing looks like an aston martin! it's the most beautiful creature on earth.

Give it new the XJ front end and some sharper body lines. It looks really dated.
