Cars & Coffee: Lexus LFA shows up ahead of LA Auto Show

The Lexus LFA supercar might not be in dealerships for another year or more, but the two prototypes are getting quite a workout. After driving the car in Miami, we heard the white one was shipped off to Europe while the black one took up residence in its new home: a trailer. The car has made a few appearances around the country, most recently at SEMA and a private showing in the Los Angeles area. Next stop on the LFA tour appears to be the LA Auto Show, but apparently it couldn't stand to be cooped up too long.
Along with a handful of other Lexus show cars, it showed up at our favorite Saturday morning car meet. The handler fired it up several times so the crowd could marvel at that V10 shriek. Reactions were mixed, mainly where price was concerned. We heard more than one person say that if it had a Supra badge and sub-$100K pricetag, it would be a killer. At four times that price, the Lexus badge just doesn't seem to win as many people over. One thing almost everyone loved was that changeable display with the sliding center gauge.

Lame, very lame. Random exterior surfacing, too ugly! When I saw this car in person, it was clear that Toyota just doesn't know how to do a supercar right, and this lame attempt proves it for sure.

@Ben,
I think you should do a little research before you comment next time. That spoiler IS retractable. They're just showing it in the raised position.

Ah, to be the Irvine PD who sits in his car in the median just outside the exit...cool cars pass you all morning long and go rrrrrrrrrrreeeaaaalllll slow by for your viewing!!

I think the satin finish shows off the actual form of the body much better than the glossy finishes. I actually noticed a surface change on the fenders of this car that wasn't very apparent on the glossy cars. So, just for that, I don't mind it. :)

I don't know what you're talking about. The matte black is fantastic. I mean let's face it, it's a seriously evil looking car, and nothing looks more evil than a black matte finish.

i think the door mirrors make it look werid, and that little spoiler too. I mean y not make a good spoiler that actually look nice, instead of something that look like its retractable, n ugly. I actually like the eariler concepts, they were clean, this 1 has too many riced up angels and holes. Think this car would look awesome in silver, white, and that corvette blue.

It looks good, but a ferrari/lamborghini is even more attractive.
