2011 Lexus LFA at Cars & Coffee - Click above for high-res image gallery

The Lexus LFA supercar might not be in dealerships for another year or more, but the two prototypes are getting quite a workout. After driving the car in Miami, we heard the white one was shipped off to Europe while the black one took up residence in its new home: a trailer. The car has made a few appearances around the country, most recently at SEMA and a private showing in the Los Angeles area. Next stop on the LFA tour appears to be the LA Auto Show, but apparently it couldn't stand to be cooped up too long.

Along with a handful of other Lexus show cars, it showed up at our favorite Saturday morning car meet. The handler fired it up several times so the crowd could marvel at that V10 shriek. Reactions were mixed, mainly where price was concerned. We heard more than one person say that if it had a Supra badge and sub-$100K pricetag, it would be a killer. At four times that price, the Lexus badge just doesn't seem to win as many people over. One thing almost everyone loved was that changeable display with the sliding center gauge.

God: Babe, I want to get one.
Goddess: But you have too many cars.
God: This one is the koolest babe.
      Goddess: I don't care.
God: I will trade all my cars for this one.
      Goddess: Ok, fair enough....

You should get 2, because I want it too. White one, hear me babe?

I like that Toyota is putting out a car like this. And I really want to like the car.

But the exterior is too funky, and not in a cool-Reventon kind of way. There's just too many weird kinks in the character lines and creases. Like the front fender line extending from the headlight... has this weird bend to it and I have no idea why. So many dissonant lines that doesn't to converge or feel "right."

I do like the interior though.

I like the front end a lot better in that color (versus, say, silver or red). The rest of the car still looks awesome.
      Kudos Lexus!

      Nice but not original.
This is a recycled design of the old Toyota Supra.
The only things they changed is the shape of the head lights.

Lexus can do much better than that.........

I get that Toyota spent a ton of money on R&D for this car, but in the end, it doesn't ignite my soul the way $400,000 should. I could fill two garages with cars I'd rather have that add up to less than the cost of just one LFA.

wow toyota...what an egregious attempt to build a supercar. just go back to building economical people-movers and pointless cross-overs.

I first saw the LFA at either the 2005 or 2006 LA Auto Show. That version was a but tamer than this one but still pretty much as the car stands in these pics. The lines of the auto show car were a bit smoother, less aggressive and flowed a little better. I personally like the car even as it stands in these photos not sure why some here think it's so bad?
