Two Ferrari 458 Italias at play - click above image to watch the video

Dude. Let us repeat that. Dude. We've seen a lot of car videos in our time. Way too many, really. Because most of them suck. With the exception of Top Gear, how many truly excellent car videos can you think of? We bet you can count them all on one hand. Well, time to bust out another finger. Before today, the previous amazing car video champ was the Shell/Ferrari F1 commercial. While that's set the standard, this brand new Ferrari 458 Italia video could knock the old king right off the dang thrown. And then some. Seriously, it's that good. But don't take our word for it, make the jump and see for yourself. Oh, and just wait until you get the first glimpse of the engine... possibly NSFW.

If that comes with a proper manual, I think I just may have a crisis.

      DO WANT.

Glad to see the LED's - I think the car looks pretty damn good. And the speed of the shifts is unreal!

I agree mate, and... I want one.

Great Googley Moogley! I was halfway expecting the cars to stop, a man to get out of one car, a woman to get out of the other, and then they start making passionate love right there on the track. There was some serious sexual tension between those cars.

Is it just me, or does this look computer generated??

I feel like I'm watching footage from GT5.

Nice video. Actually reminded me of something Top Gear would do.

I don't get the criticism on the 458 design. It is a very clean design IMO. Crisp modern lines, yet instantly recognizable as a Ferrari. I think it's good for any car maker to to something fresh and new, even if it is somewhat polarizing. Can't say to much about the interior as it wasn't very visible. Loved the sight of the engine doing it's thang in the back.
I bet this car drives phenomenal.

Now, if I can only convince the wife to take an extra job and the kids that university truly is overrated.........

That whole video I kept thinking, "that's way too wide for that corner at Mugello" or "I prefer the short Mugello course"

I play way too many videogames.

      Eye-blink effect was annoying.

GD, that's an ugly car. Looks like something Honda would make haha. The front is fugly and the back is even worst.

There were those good old days when ferrari came out with the 360 modenna, 550 maranello and finally the 430 scuderia. These were 3 beautiful cars, one more beautiful than the other. What was gorgeous about them was not only that they had style and passion, but also that when you saw them on the road you would be like wow!!!! i am in love with these car, it makes me feel comfortable around it, i feel like i am in italy just looking at it. Now with this 458 italia, ferrari has entered a totally different aspect of life, they have switched page, but unfortunately to the wrong one. Not only does this car not look like a ferrari at all, but it has a grin on the front, instead of that innocent smile that it used to have. It seems like watching the black spiderman, it scares you just being next to it. Ferrari please bring back the old style, this new one is not a black beautiful stallion. But more like a stallion with a devil within itself.

This is definitely as safe for work as they come :).

Great video...but the commercial still tops it!

This video might do the 458's performance justice, but it can and does look much, much better. Go configure one, you'll quickly figure out how great this car can look

Am I the only one that find it repulsive (side view and interior totally aside)?

Seriously, what's up with Ferrari as of late?
... And what's up with me and repeated grammatical mistakes in my posts as of late? Meh, my French is probably taking over again.

        But you got my point.

Front doesnt fit with the rear and the headlight design is questionable at best. I love the interior though.
I'll agree. It's a great car, but I am actually looking forward to what some of the tuners (novitec, mansory, etc.) do with it, as the nose and tail lights of it just don't appeal to me like the 430/599 do. Not that I could ever buy one...
It's like a mix of French/Korean design....I hate it too...
Wow I thought I was the only one to think so. This is IMO the ugliest Ferrari to come out in a long time.

Although the video was pretty nice.
The first shot Ferrari released of it absolutely blew me away...

        http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/28/officially-official-ferrari-announces-the-458-italia/

Seeing all the angles in this video kinda changed my tune... I don't hate it, but it's not scoring any points.

I also think this is only marginally better than the repulsively reprehensible California. When Im in the market for a super car I think it will be a Lamborghini if they keep this design up.
No, you're not alone. Ferrari haven't done a good looking mid-engined car since the 355.
+1, Italia is not exactly a looker :(
