VIDEO: 0-60 gets a Hyundai Genesis Coupe to tune and track

As we showed you earlier today, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe is proof that the South Koreans know how to have fun. In the hands of the right tuner, Hyundai's rear-wheel drive rocket can go from a good time to great reason to get out of bed in the morning.
The guys and gals over at 0-60 Magazine somehow managed to get their hands on a 2.0T Genesis Coupe before the rest of us, with the sole intention of turning an already capable track companion to a total driftmonger. Yes, driftmonger. Hit the jump to see a sneak peak of what 0-60 did with their pet project. You'll see a big ol' rear wing, some carbon fiber, and plenty of tire-shredding sideways antics. Looks like fun.

So, are we just going to be drifting this car?

I agree seems like a nice portion of a lot of projects being moved into being drift monsters. I want to see a genesis coupe that will shred the track. (See Best Motorings R-34 Mine's Skyline video for tips) F the drifting imo.

This just in: CARB now attempting to ban drifting due to environmental impact of black tires!

@alex,
could we see a world with all around white tires?lol just a funny spin on the CARB article.
for others:
(I already know CARB said they weren't serious)

The next generation Sonata will be very similar to the Mercedes CLS and Volkswagen Passat CC - a four door coupe. From what I've seen so far, it's a great looking car. I've only seen the exterior - but I'm sure the interior will be very nice.
As for the Genesis Coupe - I really have no interest in aftermarket exterior parts (besides the winged Genesis badge) or drifting. Like some have already mentioned, I'd rather see how fast the Genesis can be without blowing up the drive train...

So with the $8k difference between base 2.0T and 3.8 V6 premium/track, I guess you can mod and tune that low pressure turbo into a track monster.

I wouldn't say 17psi is low pressure..

The 2.0T coupe is one of the only vehicles from ANY manufacturer I have been excited about in a very long time. That sounds very wrong.... but I don't care!

I don't understand why media outlets are acting as if it is hard to get hold of a tester. I looked at one at my local dealership Sunday and the car has been on lots for over 2 weeks.

This car sux. No self respecting Arm Chair Autoblogger would ever buy such a piss poor 0-60 performing car. Besides, it's a Hyundai! EEEEWWWWWWW!!!!
Edit: Tuners are GOING TO LOVE THIS CAR!

Still can't get used to the pinched nose "who farted?" face of this car. And the interior looks worse and worse every pic I see. Still, a couple year old used one should be a great performance deal...

At this point it's just waiting until the local dealership is taking deposits on R-Spec models.

Cool video. I noticed the soundtrack is a ripoff of the Propellerheads song, Spybreak (featured in the Matrix)
