VIDEO: 2010 Ford Mustang GT stretching its legs

The 2010 Mustang looks good, sounds great and will be available to customers in a few short months. We can't wait to get behind the wheel. But in the meantime we can watch the fleet footed drivers at the Blue Oval take the 315-hp pony car through its paces while cameras roll. Beyond the jump we have 44 seconds of the sweet-sounding Mustang doing a perfect donut and ripping a killer burnout. Wait. That's a CGI Mustang driven by some geek sporting a color-coded keyboard and a five button mouse. It may be fake but it looks really cool. We just have trouble understanding how a team of animators staring at a screen for 40 hours wouldn't notice that the GT badge out back is backwards (about 18 seconds in). Oh well, it's still cool in a Gran Turismo kind of way, and you'll love the soundtrack coming from the 4.6L V8. Check it out after the jump.

You know why it's backwards? Because this is a mirrored version of the same movie that was on the Ford 2010 Mustang site. The badge is in the correct position on that one, and this one got mirrored somehow.

The little horsy on the grill is facing the wrong direction too. I saw this video a few weeks back on the Ford site as well.

This video is mirrored. Tang got it right. This is not the animators fault. This video has been on the Ford website for some time now

This video is correct on Fords website (still up, some own just mirrored it from their website) plus you get a cool color change and a 360 view. Recommend checking it out there if you haven't

It looks like it will be a badass car. I am not a huge Mustang fan due to size ristrictions in the interior cabin vs my size but if it was a comfortable fit this would be on a short list.

I'd say it's pretty obvious that Ford is cutting back on expenses with that 'CGI'. whoever modeled and rendered that entire scene should be shot. I've seen 14 year old computer geeks with more talent than that.

Agreed, that was pure garbage.
I've seen Forza 2 on Xbox360 look more realistic than that.
PixelNate 10:02AM (12/10/2008)
Sorry, you fail. No 14 year old anywhere can produce an animation that looks that realistic. If there was, Ford would have saved themselves the big bucks that this animation cost them. There were, no doubt, a team of people working on that short, from animators to gaffers to sound engineers. That cannot be done that well by some teen in his room.
Aaron 10:36AM (12/10/2008)
Nate, you obviously fail at understanding hyperbole.

WOW! This car is soo badazz that video of it needs to be rendered with CGI! Top Gear should really take note and stop driving the actual cars around a test track.

Maybe it's backwards because that's a right-hand drive model destined for England?

Oh if only they'll offer the body-color grill on the V8 models. The crappy looking grey plastic kills it.
And yes this video has been up on the Ford website for a few weeks. And its not backwards there from what I remember.

Pause the video at around the 18 sec mark and you'll see the GT emblem on the back is backwards.

The GT emblem in both, the fake gas cap and the front fenders are not the only thing in mirror image, look close to the horse in the front grill, it is running from left to right, (looking the car from the front, of course) it must be running from right to left, and you can't see the driver in the left side, there is a part when you can see him in the right side.

Nice CG graphics. I'd love to see it maneuver like that on the road.

I had a '65 and bought a 2005 when they came out. They're still my favorites. The new "rounded" look for 2010 doesn't reflect the true "Pony" car. The Mustang is NOT a Camaro!
