This weekend Singapore will host Formula 1's first night race, and SPEED TV has created a computerized lap of the course narrated by Mark Webber taking you through the 24 corners. Perhaps the best part of this brand new track in a brand new host country at a brand new time of

Erm, why is the "source" for this Speed TV when Red Bull; the creators of the content; have it available for free sans advertisement at http://www.redbullracing.com/4th-Sector/Webber-Singapore/ .
It is despicable that either Autoblog, "Andy" or the intermediates would profit from other peoples work.

it would be a nice v10 sound if they were v10s, they've all got v8s.
XD 9:26PM (9/19/2008)
yeah, but they didn't put v8 sound because a v10 just sound better, you can tell by the high pitch sound that it's not a v8
why not the LS2LS7? 12:20AM (9/20/2008)
Sounds like the V8s to me.

@JBob: no, I am not kidding you. A company called Red Bull paid for a fully CGI video clip of the as yet unseen lap of new Singapore circuit with a voice over done by one of their drivers. They put it up on their website to be viewed free of charge. Yet someone else has come along; copied the content and and stuck a ad in the front of it and that is the content that Autoblog chooses to link to.
Does Autoblog get a cut from the ad revenue?

Yeah that's a bit much ajh.
Here's how it went down. I saw the video on SPEED TV's website. Their website had the embed code so I blogged about it.
I can assure you that neither Autoblog nor myself are getting any kind of "ad revenue" from this because its just a common video with an embed code that can be posted anywhere just like you're run of the mill youtube video.
As we all know SPEED (owned by fox) is the broadcaster for F1 so for all we know this could have been something arranged between them.
Any ad revenue from the vid is SPEED's because its their embed code that I got this from. I don't make a single red cent off anything I post on my site and I resent the fact that you would immediately jump to the conclusion that somehow Autoblog or myself pirated something from Red Bull.
Neither Autoblog or myself "copied" this video.
And lets not forget the clear and obvious fact that hey, if we can all clearly see that video features Red Bull's team and also the fact that many people can watch and embed this video....isn't Red Bull getting plenty of exposure from this anyway? Thats the whole reason companies like that do things like this video.
I highly doubt that Red Bull would have this video on their site with a random advertisement for another companies product on it. They're objective is to make sure as many people see their brand as possible. Way I see it Autoblog, SPEED, and myself are all helping that happen.
With that said I'm glad I got the hat tip from Autoblog, thanks for that...and I'm glad that people enjoyed the video.

That got a chuckle judd, so much so I just had to repsond for the first time on the site. That being said, let's hope those three overtaking spots Mark points out in the lap are just that.
And thank you Andy firstly for the post and secondly for a such a succinct response to criticism, well played sir.

I'm glad you got that I am kidding, Pickl. I was afraid I'll head for a lower rating after that one.

Poor poor autoblog. I love you so much, but the race is not this weekend but next weekend and then you like to the wrong source. How poor. Lets not see this happen again ok?

why not the LS2LS7? 1:18AM (9/20/2008)
Since there's no actual F1 race this weekend (several point out), you can get your racing fix watching Grand Am on Speed at 1P tomorrow. It's a multi-class race, so there will be plenty of passing.
The cars are a tad ugly though, I warn you.
There's a Koni (production-based) Grand Am race tomorrow too, but Speed isn't airing it until Oct 12th!
