Ralph Lauren's car collection in pictures

Most would recognize Ralph Lauren as the personality behind the famous Polo fashion label, but few would suspect that Lauren also has a car collection to rival the likes of Jay Leno or an Arab Sheikh. The native New Yorker is an avid car nut like many of us, only he has the means to afford most of the cars that we can only lust over.
Together with the Discovery Channel, Lauren has now opened the doors of his private collection to the public for a new documentary called Speed, Style and Beauty: Cars from the Ralph Lauren Collection that aired over the weekend. We watched it... in high-def... it was awesome. Some of the more notable vehicles in the collection include a Bugatti Veyron, an ultra-rare McLaren F1LM (one out of only five cars), one of the first supercharged Bentley's ever created and two Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas.
Thanks to our friends at World Car Fans, we've assembled a gallery of Lauren's prized possessions. While not as fun as watching the cars idle around Lauren's property in high-def, the photography is still incredible.

McLaren F1 LM. nearly the automotive equivalent to the Holy Grail. If I could have any one car, and only one car...
It doesn't get much better than that. The D-type and Ferraris aren't bad either.

Seriously, I love the McLaren F1/F1LM. Awesome design that still looks new and fresh, precision engineering, seats 3 people.... man, that car is amazing! It's too bad other companies don't try doing stuff as innovative as the McLaren F1.

Amen. Love the dihedral doors, you can exit the car if someone else rolls it. Not so if that happens in a lambo or the koenigsegg.

Even better than high def. television - I saw some of these cars a dozen years ago at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts exhibition "Moving Beauty". The masterpiece in my opinion was the Bugatti 57 Atlantic pictured in the article.

At the recent British Car day outside Toronto, someone had a D-Type on display. I have photos if someone at Autoblog wants to post them.

I went to the MMFA Moving Beauty exhibit as well. Its been over 10 years but that was an absolutely amazing show. The Bugatti was definitely the highlight among some pretty spectacular vehicles. It looks good in photos, but the car is unbelieveable live. Easily one of the most beautiful vehicles ever produced!

I can appreciate that Ralph Lauren, has good taste, after all, I sold his shoes to people and I also bought them for my own use. So it stands to reason, he would not only have good taste for everything else in his life. But seriously he has good taste in cars, shoes, clothing, etc. He is very fortunate to have such abilities, and he deserves the very best, after he worked hard for it.

The cars are beautiful, But .. it would have been nice to have included with the picts the type/name and year of the cars for all those who like to look and know what theyre looking at (like my self) since not everyone in this world is an car aficionado.
"Hmmm.. beautiful car .. what is it??!!??"
