UPDATE 1
Barabus Sports Car Ltd. (not to be confused with Brabus, the Mercedes-Benz tuner) has been working on a 1005-bhp supercar for the past ten years. Now that's dedication. It's being unveiled at the British Motor Show in London this week, but we were getting impatient waiting for pics. A quick email to Barabus resulted in these pictures of the hyper exotic sports car that's powered by a 6.0L V8 with twin turbochargers and dual intercoolers. We were told by the company its
website should be ready by tomorrow, at which time there should be a lot more information on this potential Veyron killer.

Ten years to make 1000 HP? You guys need to review the Ford GT, Viper, and Vette boards. It sounds like a magic number, but it's relatively easy to hit that mark with $20K-$30K and the right tuner. I know a guy whose daily driver is a 1200 HP twin-SC Viper. And the build-up only took about two months, not ten years.
The roads are crawling with street-driven cars that make well over 1000 HP.
Is that a Saleen body?
Heck... ten years... does that mean parts of their design date from the mid-90's?

thanks for thisnformation

Looks sexy except for the silver mesh, I'm not sure why anyone insists that's a good look. If you have to have mesh, at least paint it black so your eye isn't drawn to it.

It will take more then just performance to "kill" the Veyron.
This looks to be more of a rival to Koenigsegg.

thosw headlights look like they were taken off of the VeilSide Fortune RX-7

Is that the workshop in the background

looks alot like a saleen s7. and doesn't the saleen use a twin turbo v8 as well?
Mallard @ Jul 20th 2006 9:48AM
Looks like a Saleen S7
Josh @ Jul 20th 2006 9:50AM
#6 It's a Saleen S7 killer ;-)
(and I'd rather have a veyron)

Yeah, the wire mesh and something about the wheel wells make it look decidedly like a kit-car to me.
shawn @ Jul 20th 2006 10:27AM
Oh please. Until you drive this thing to victory against Saleen, it ain't a "killer" of anything. Until the Veyron scores more wins than Mclaren, it is just garage queen.
There is a huge difference between a baseball fan and a baseball collector. To a fan, the game is more important.

"3. It will take more then just performance to "kill" the Veyron."
So if not performance, than what?
Also, this car looks tacky as hell. Cheap, generic "supercar" looks and gaudy wheels.
epp_b @ Jul 20th 2006 10:49AM
It looks like the love-child of a Saleen S7 and a Mosler MT900R.

So, in other words: a pretty hot looking car!

It looks fine. It dopes look typical supercar, but who cares??? 1005 HP does not get argued with!!! And the Bugatti did 987 HP (or somewhere in that ballpark), and from a quad turbo, 16 liter w-16
while this car does it froma tiwn turbo V8!! That is a better car , for a lot better value. The only things that the bugatti has over this are luxury and image, since no ones ever heard of barabus.
Tom @ Jul 20th 2006 10:59AM
What is the smart barabus?
Benjamin @ Jul 20th 2006 11:06AM
I think it's important for people to realize that the Bugatti has been detuned to 987/1001 hp. In addition, I thought I read somewhere that they are increasing the hp in the Bugatti. If I had the $$ I'd take the Bugatti anyday of this.
Yaroukh @ Jul 20th 2006 11:56AM
looks like another five supersports
Rob @ Jul 20th 2006 11:57AM
I agree that it looks like a S7, the side profile and raised fenders give it a copycat look. And yes the S7 has a 7.0L twin turbo V-8 at 750hp.
deBargo @ Jul 20th 2006 12:17PM
They've been working on it for 10 years eh? Maybe that's why it looks like something that should have been on the market 10 years ago, not now.
All these exotic sports cars look the same after a while, nothing impressive. Give me a 1959 Ferrari anyday!
psuwayne @ Jul 20th 2006 12:48PM
Are you guys for real? There's a reason most of the supercars look similar - aerodynamics. I mean, how many different ways can you uniquely shape the body of a street-legal car so that it can handle 700+bhp, accelerate to 200+ MPH and still stick to the road?
Give Barabus some credit for accomplishing something that Bugatti did over many years, but with a fraction of the budget thrown into the Veyron.
If you guys think it's some easy feat to accomplish, hit the garage and get started. Let me know how you make out in 10-20 years.....
