Volvo minivan based on S-Max in the works?

Autoweek has an interesting piece up that cites a source within Volvo who claims the Swedish manufacturer is currently testing minivan prototypes in the town of Arvidsjaur above the Arctic Circle. Said minivan would supposedly be based on the European S-Max architecture that’s already being shared with the new Galaxy people mover and all new S80 sedan. The vehicle would also sport the firm’s new 3.2L inline six-cylinder powerplant.

Volvo has gone on record denying any such minivan development is underway, claiming it invented the station wagon crossover market with its XC70 and doesn’t plan to abandon the shooting brake market.
