Dodge Nitro gets green light

dodge nitro 250 pr photoDodge announced to nobody's surprise that the Nitro will go into production as a 2007 model year vehicle. The concept vehicle was first shown at February's Chicago Auto Show, where it was widely speculated that the Jeep Liberty platform it sat on made it likely the vehicle would see the inside of a showroom. We're still not sure where the Nitro would be made, how much it will cost, when it will go on sale, whether it will still be called the Nitro, or whether the SRT we've seen in spy pics will come to bear as well — maybe as a V8 with Chrysler's cylinder deactivation technolgy?
