- NEW YORK, March 31, 2010 At the New York Auto Show today, John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president and CEO presented the world debut of its 2011 Sonata Hybrid, changing the game in hybrids with unique approaches in hybrid powertrain design, battery technology, vehicle appearance and best-in-class 39 mpg highway fuel economy. The Sonata Hybrid is Hyundais first hybrid in the U.S. market and will be on sale later this year.
