A professional driver takes us for a ride in the new Ml60i xDrive around the Thermal Club race track.
TranscriptJAMES RISWICK: This is James Riswick for Autoblog and I'm here with [INAUDIBLE], technical project manager with BMW, and we are in the BMW M760i, the 12 powered version of the seven series. We're here at the Thermal Club, and because he's a substantially faster driver than I am, we're gonna go for a long lap here at the Thermal Club.
- All right?
JAMES RISWICK: Yeah, let's go.
Good plan.
- [INAUDIBLE] just for information. [INAUDIBLE] is on the taxi right out there, so he's going to go [INAUDIBLE].
We don't need to know what they're doing. Now we're on the track.
Going straight here. [INAUDIBLE] bright white light. [INAUDIBLE] 19 inch rims the car's equipped. [INAUDIBLE] too much understeering.
JAMES RISWICK: That's the rear wheel steering on this car, and there's so many hairpins on this track, you can really feel it especially here.
- And you can hear now all four wheels squeezing. The car Is very good balance, and I can afford to go quite early on the accelerator on this fast [INAUDIBLE].
From the [INAUDIBLE] on the accelerator [INAUDIBLE].
[ENGINE ROARING]
[BRAKES SQUEALING]
JAMES RISWICK: It's got brakes.
- The fuel is running out [INAUDIBLE].
- [INAUDIBLE] much fun.
[ENGINE ROARING]
- Quite tricky, quite close, it's the right [INAUDIBLE].
[ENGINE ROARING]
- [INAUDIBLE], you can afford to go over the curbs. [INAUDIBLE]
[ENGINE ROARING]
- How safe [INAUDIBLE] to recognize we're doing something now.
JAMES RISWICK: Yeah, I know. Well, right now the seat belt gave me a wicked tug, and then apparently I've got to close the sun roof, too.
- OK, and then keep going, cooling down the brakes, OK?
JAMES RISWICK: There you go.
