Driving on the beach, The Corner fast food, and Sydney's Opera House. This is not a review of the 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor.

Transcript

- Chris, how's that Ranger Raptor?

- It's OK. I did just see an orange wild truck drive by, and I was like, ooh. So they should have made this truck in orange.

We may have just found out that the 2019 Ranger Raptor isn't coming stateside, but that wasn't enough to stop me from driving it, which meant traveling to Australia.

So much like the F-150 Raptor, the Ranger Raptor, of course, is made to go offroading. In fact, the engineers designed this so that it could handle speeds of over 100 miles per hour while driving off road. I'm not driving 100 miles per hour right now, but I can tell you with these FOX shocks and this suspension. I would feel comfortable at those speeds.

Grease Monkey, that funky monkey.

Ooh, it's hot. It is hot. Yeah. Everything on this plate is really hot. I'm going to wait a little bit.

So we're driving north of Sydney on our way to the beach. We're going to drive on the beach, which isn't something you get to do very often in the US, so I'm pretty pumped for this. It was about a three-hour drive from Sydney. We've been driving a lot on this trip, so it's starting to wear on me a little bit. But this truck is awesome.

If you look at this map here, we're going to drive here. And you can drive along the beach along this purple line. And then over here, there's some dunes that you can actually drive around a little bit more.

I can't drive super fast, so we're only gone at speeds up to 40 kilometers an hour, roughly 25 miles per hour. I think that it'll be able to handle it, no problem.

This would be more fun with multiple people because then if you were, you know, being a jerk, and you get stuck, they could pull you out. And the speed limit is ridiculously low. I mean, not ridiculously low, but it's really low. It's 20 kilometers per hour, which is 12 miles per hour, which is just like-- we're not going to be doing any crazy Baja feats here on this beach. That's for sure.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

The drive on the beach was good. Honestly, I kind of wish we had a-- oh, my gosh! Is that a crocodile or some kind of crazy lizard? What is that?

- It is a--

- Komodo dragon?

- Komodo, yeah.

- What? Those live here?

- Yeah.

- What? What? Look at it go. Oh, my god. I didn't know they lived here.

Yeah, so the beach was good. I kind of wish we had an air pump so I could have-- so we could have aired down the tires a little bit. But we just put it in sand, mud mode, and kept it in four high the whole way and kind of stayed closer to the water so we weren't going through the drier stuff.

But overall, it was real good. I actually put it in cruise control for some of it just to see like if we could do cruise control on the beach, and it totally worked fine. And then we saw a komodo dragon, which I didn't even know lived here. Australia's crazy.

In the United States, McDonald's is boring fast food. Nobody actually wants to eat there. But in Australia, McDonald's is thriving. So we're going to check out this McDonald's here-- it's called the Corner McCafe-- and see what Australian McDonald's is doing right.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

So we got the avocado breakfast wrap. Mm. That's really good.

I'm trying to figure out what restaurant this place is most like in the US, and there really isn't a chain like it. It's called The Corner. It's like a corner breakfast place. I had a sweet breakfast wrap. it was like a breakfast burrito with guacamole in it. It was fantastic. And we had some great toast too.

If McDonald's was like this in the United States, I guarantee more people would go, especially people my age.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Fueled by breakfast wraps and kombucha, we headed to our last stop, downtown Sydney, where we said farewell to our trusted steed, which felt enormous on the narrow city streets. From there, we traveled the rest of our excursion on foot, visiting the top of the Harbor Bridge Tower and the famed Sydney Opera House. Sometimes the best adventures happen after you leave your truck behind.
