2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 43

The GLE-Class luxury sport utility is comfortably sized, seating five with room for plenty of luggage. It drives like a sedan and is a capable off-roader. For 2017, model designations remain the same, except for the addition of the AMG GLE43. Most models are equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission. The GLE400 and AMG GLE43 include a nine-speed automatic. Electronically managed 4MATIC all-wheel drive is standard on all models except the rear-wheel drive GLE350. The GLE300d is powered by a 2.1-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder generating 201 horsepower. The GLE350 includes a 3.5-liter V6, generating 302 horsepower. The GLE400 includes a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 329-hp, and the AMG GLE63 has a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with either 550- or 577-hp and ECO stop/start. The new AMG GLE43 has a 362-hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. The GLE550e is a full plug-in hybrid and includes a 329-hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 together with a 114-hp electric motor. The extensively equipped GLE-Class includes standard features such as stability control and active front head restraints, as well as front, side, side curtain, and driver knee airbags. Collision Prevention Assist, a color display instrument cluster and Mercedes-Benz in-vehicle services are standard on all models. Available features include a navigation package, satellite radio, bi-xenon headlamps, and a driver assistance package. The GLE-Class is a carryover for 2017 and adds the AMG GLE43 performance model.
