Overview

The Hyundai Sonata is a four-door, five-passenger sedan designed to compete with the Accord and Camry. Powering the Hyundai Sonata is a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine making 191 horsepower, the optional engine is a turbocharged 1.6L 4-cylinder unit making 180 horsepower, but torque is up for this engine over the base 2.5L. A new 8-speed automatic is the only transmission option, sending power to the front wheels. Hyundai claims anywhere from 36 mpg to 38 mpg on the highway depending on trim. Standard features now include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth hands free wireless phone connectivity with audio streaming, a rearview monitor with parking lines, both lane keep and lane following assist functions for the cruise control, a stop and go function for that cruise control, automatic high beams, a rear occupant alert system, forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, LED headlights/taillights and daytime running lights, and power side mirrors. Packages available for the Sonata 2021 are Convenience for the SEL and Tech for SEL Plus. A few changes for the 2021 model are standard safe-exist warning on all trims except for the SE, height adjustable passenger seat in the SE and SEL, and 6-way power passenger seat in the limited trim. The biggest news for the Sonata 2021 is the sporty version N Line.
