Overview

The Volkswagen Golf is a compact German hatchback that sets the standard benchmark in a very crowded class. The seventh-generation Golf is powered by a 170-hp 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine with the choice between either a five-speed manual transmission or six-speed Tiptronic automatic. Standard safety features include, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, head restraints at all five seating positions, rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, LED brakelights, rain sensing wipers and six airbags. The SE adds VW Car-Net connected car service, Front Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitor with rear traffic alert, automatic headlights and such niceties as a power sunroof, heated leatherette front seats, SiriusXM satellite radio, Kessy keyless access and 16-inch aluminum wheels. For 2018, the Golf has been refreshed inside and out.
