Overview
The Civic Hybrid is the flagship example of Honda's Integrated Motor Assist hybrid technology in an efficient practical package. The Civic Hybrid sedan is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a light-weight, brushless electric motor that is sandwiched between the engine and the CVT transmission. A lithium-ion battery is used to power the electric motor, offering lighter weight and more available power than other battery types. Combined, the gas engine and electric motor produce 110 horsepower and 127lb.ft. of torque. Standard safety features include electronic stability and traction control systems, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, six airbags and a tire pressure monitoring system. To differentiate the hybrid model from the rest of the Civic line-up, features like lane departure and forward collision warnings, LED brake lights, turn signals in the exterior mirrors, a unique grille and hybrid specific screens in the i-MID are standard. A voice-activated navigation system with FM traffic updates is optional. For 2014, new standard premium features include Honda LaneWatch blind spot camera, smart entry with push button starting and a 7-inch display audio touchscreen media center.
