Overview
The 2008 BMW M3 is the fourth-generation of the M-tuned 3-series. First launched in 1986, M GmbH has taken what they learn on the race track to develop a high-performance street car that lives up to its motorsports heritage. The much-anticipated M3 returns from its one year hiatus with a high-revving 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 414 horsepower. All that power is driven through the rear wheels via two different transmissions, a six-speed manual or an all-new seven-speed double-clutch, and a variable differential lock. High-performance anti-lock brakes with cross-drilled discs work with electronic stability control and M sport suspension to keep things under control. For 2008, a sedan body returns for the first time since 1998, giving the performance enthusiast a choice of three different bodystyles (coupe, sedan, convertible) to suit their needs.
