Overview

The Chevrolet Silverado still stands tall among a superb new crop of full-size pickups. Roomy cabins, comfortable seats, a comfortable ride, and powerful engines make the Silverado a great work truck. The 1500 Hybrid engine option is available on 1500 extended-cab pickups with the 295 hp 5.3-liter V-8. Unlike other Hybrid cars the 1500 Hybrid's electric engine doesn't actually drive the car. The Hybrid engine allows the truck to start and stop its combustion engine in order to save energy when unneeded. This system allows for a mpg saving of 1-2 miles, in addition to allowing for a 120-volt power outlet for external power needs. Safety features include antilock brakes and front airbags. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD is a new model for 2006.
