Cupholders aren't exactly top priority in European sport coupes. As such, I wasn't particularly hopeful this 2023 BMW M2 would make a happy home for an oversized water bottle like a 32-ounce Nalgene. It's important that I try, though. There are literally tens of you that rely on this important research. I see you with your giant water bottles, your big Gatorades and whatnot, clicking on interior photos of cars online just hoping to find that one that will accommodate your thirst. So, I took a break from preparing my upcoming review of the M2 in order to answer your most burning question first: Will the big bottle fit?
Transcript- Hello there. John Snyder with Autoblog here, and in front of me is the 2023 BMW M2 coupe. Now, this is a hot little German sports car. And the last thing on designers' minds was probably cupholders. So don't have a lot of hope, but nevertheless I'm going to see if there's a spot for my trusty water bottle.
I like these oversized water bottles, like Nalgene. Sometimes a big Gatorade. But they don't fit in many cup holders, so let's see if that's the case here. All right, away. That's bad news for these guys. Yeah, that's not going to fit. No.
So then I usually go to the door. And that looks promising. Yeah, it fits. It's a really tight fit, so it's going to be a little difficult pulling it out of there while driving. But still, that'll work. Now behind these sweet carbon-fiber seats. Rear passengers don't get an armrest.
This is just a pass-through to the trunk, so no cupholders there. No cupholders on the sides. None on the rear of the center console. So they're just going to have to hold whatever they're drinking, be it large or small.
So, man, can't wait to go for another drive in this thing. It's awesome. But anyway, there it is. Nalgene, not an ideal water bottle for driving, but it quenches my thirst. And there's at least one spot I can put it in the 2023 BMW M2. Thanks for watching.
