The new LaCrosse sedan's handling and ride are better than expected for a mid-luxury car in this class. We give our impressions from the first drive of this large car.
TranscriptJAMES RISWICK: This is James Riswick for Autoblog, and I'm driving the all-new 2017 Buick LaCrosse. Now before we got in here, they told us it was going to be quiet. It is definitely quiet. They told us it was going to be comfortable. It is definitely comfortable. Although I would suggest you get the 18-inch wheels rather than this car's 20-inch wheels. Makes a bit of a difference, but a good one.
But what they didn't tell us was how capable it was going to be around corners. Really impressive composure, especially over mid-corner undulations. Doesn't get all loose in the rear end. It has a five-link rear suspension. It has a HiPer Strut front suspension in the front-wheel drive cars. And for the most part, that quells torque steer when you come out of a corner. And it does an excellent job of that.
I'm really shocked at how much I'm able to toss this car around without it getting all out of whack. I was not expecting that from such a big comfortable luxury sedan, and Buick did a really great job with this. So color me both pleasantly surprised and very impressed with the 2017 Buick LaCrosse.
