Cars can be like relationships, there's always one that you wish you could turn back time and see again. For me, it's the fully optioned, sky blue '79 Cadillac Sedan DeVille that I still carry the keys for despite the fact that it went to the great scrapyard in the sky twenty-two years ago. For YouTube sensation Angry Grandpa, the one that got away was a '55 Bel Air.
As the story goes, When Grandpa was just 16-years-old he got his very first car - a '55 Chevy Bel Air. As fate would have it, he lost the old Bel Air a year later when his parents gave it to his sister so that she could move across country. Once Grandpa's sister settled down in California with his beloved Bel Air, the old car broke down and sister sold the car for scrap. Grandpa was devastated. For decades he pined for the Bel Air and, aside from his very own house, the only thing he wanted in the world was another one.
With this in mind, Grandpa's son picked up a mint two-tone, copper-red and white, two-door hardtop and presented it to Grandpa in the parking lot of the local Piggly Wiggly. Needless to say, the feels in the above video are strong enough to melt even the hardest, most cynical heart–mine included.
So, you guys go ahead and watch that video. I'm going to look around on Craigslist for nice old Cadillacs.
