Some of the richest auto enthusiasts on the planet spend the third week of every August enjoying the cool Pacific breeze and the cooler automobiles on display in Monterey, CA. For 2016, said automobiles are going to be joined by the new Pagani Huayra Roadster.

The initial report came from Car Buzz and claimed that sources at Pagani confirmed that the Huayra Roadster would be debuting on Sunday, August 21 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. We reached out to global public relations and communications manager Luca Venturi, who confirmed that not only would the Huayra Roadster be in Monterey, but that its official debut would be some days before the Sunday Concours. While we'll likely be on hand for that event, Venturi also confirmed that the new exotic would be on display at The Quail.

According to Car Buzz, production of the Huayra Roadster will be exceedingly limited, with just 100 units in the initial run. Allegedly, 75 of them have already been spoken for. As this is Pagani, though, it's a safe bet that the Huayra Roadster will be followed by an even higher performance convertible in the coming years – perhaps a Huayra BC Roadster – so don't worry about missing out on this initial run.

For those that need a refresher, The Quail is one of the biggest, most prestigious events during the Monterey Car Week and takes place the Friday – August 19, this year – before the Concours d'Elegance itself. It's regularly a showcase for news and the introduction of production models, and saw the debut of another high-profile, droptop Italian in 2015, the Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster.
