We walk through the different hybrid-related information screens in the center display as well as on the screen in the gauge pod on the new 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid.
TranscriptDAVID GLUCKMAN: Hey, it's David Gluckman with another Autoblog Short Cut. I'm sitting in the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid. I just want to take you through the various hybrid-related screens in this vehicle.
Here you can see the flow diagram, which shows you when the engine is running and what the state of charge of the battery is, roughly. There's also an info page here that shows you your consumption history over the last 50 miles. In the center gauge cluster, there are a bunch of different screens you can page through.
This one shows you the kilowatts of power that are being used. It's the same as what would be displayed in an on his left gauge here, which kind of replaces the tachometer. Of course, that doesn't have a lot of numbers on it. So that big zero kilowatt number there right now shows you a much better indication of a more exact number, and also whether or not the engine or electric motor are being used, whether the engine is on.
You can see this, which is sort of like a floating ball gauge in a Chevy Volt. It's a sort of more simplified version of that. You've got your braking on the left and acceleration on the right. And you try to keep the ball as far-- as much in the center, in the green area in the center as you can.
This gives you just the normal battery voltage. And there's, of course, fuel economy over the last 50-- 25 miles and your best. And you can see this vehicle achieve 47.5 miles per gallon, which is very close to the 48 miles per gallon city number that it's probably going to be rated at. So those are just a few of the hybrid-specific displays in the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid.
