Minister caught with vodka, pills while driving

Police in New Jersey arrested a minister for drunk driving Friday night.

53-year-old Diane Reiners was caught driving erratically through the Holland Tunnel on her way to Jersey City with a water bottle full of vodka and more than 100 prescription pills in her car.

Witnesses told authorities they saw an orange Toyota swerving through lanes, hitting the tunnel curb and even stopping in the middle of the road for no reason.

When police pulled her over they noticed the open water bottle in the center console and the pills, which were prescribed to someone else. Police said Reiner had bloodshot eyes and WPIX reports she failed a field sobriety test.

Reiners was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 2012 after she lost her husband to cancer. Her colleagues told the New York Post his death was very hard on her.

She is one of the assisting clergy at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in Manhattan.

Reiners was charged with DWI, reckless driving and possession of alcohol and a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
