Tom Magliozzi, host of NPR's Car Talk, dead at 77 [w/video]

Tom Magliozzi, one of the beloved hosts of National Public Radio's long-running Car Talk program has died. He was 77, and passed from complications related to Alzheimer's Disease.

Magliozzi (above, left) and his younger brother, Ray (right), perhaps better known to enthusiasts as Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, were on the air from 1977 until 1986 on WBUR in Boston, and they were subsequently nationally broadcast from 1987 to 2012. The pair were well-known for their self-deprecating sense of humor and occasionally sound automotive advice.

Magliozzi will be most remembered by listeners for his infectious laugh, Car Talk producer Doug Berman told NPR. "Before I ever met him, I heard him, and it wasn't on the air," Berman said. "I'd just hear this laughter. And then there'd be more of it, and people would sort of gather around him. He was just kind of a magnet."
