Small Aircraft Stops For Fuel Along Highway, Then Takes Off

Ultralight makes for unusual sight at Lukoil gas station

We've seen the occasional out-of-the-ordinary car at the gas pump, but never quite like this.

In this video, a two-person ultralight aircraft pulls up at a gas station alongside a highway, tops its tank, and then uses the on-ramp for a short takeoff roll and becomes airborne.

We presume the video takes place in Russia, given its Lukoil pitstop, although the origin of the video is unknown.

If you think that's impressive, you may want to check out the Terrafugia Transition, the flying car unveiled at the New York Auto Show last April. The Transition, more of a full-bodied small aircraft, is equally capable of pulling up at a car-centric gas station and then taking flight – perhaps departing from the runway at a local airport instead of the nearby highway.
