Neste Oil Rally Finland fueled by NExBTL 100 Green biodiesel

When the World Rally Championship rolled into Finland at the end of July for the 2011 Neste Oil Rally Finland, some 29 of the 124 vehicles entered in the tail-out, gravel-throwing event were fueled by Neste Oil's NExBTL renewable diesel. Running solely on Neste Green 100 diesel, Neste says the vehicles' greenhouse gas emissions were cut in half during the three-day event. Jarmo Mahonen, managing director of AKK Sports Oy, said:
Neste Green 100 diesel is an excellent innovation that we want to support and use in our operations; the fact that most of our vehicles are diesel-powered makes it easy to do just that.
The fact that Neste's new fuel is compatible with all current diesel engines and has been developed in cooperation with leading automotive manufacturers means that burning it should not cause any drivability issues. Currently, motorists in Finland can fill up with a Neste Green diesel blend that contains at least 10 renewable content.
As for the Neste Oil Rally Finland, the revamped route extends from central Finland southwards to the Päijät-Häme region near Lahti. This year's event was accompanied by the Lahti Historic Rally, which has been granted European Historic Rally Championship status.
