Google Earth's Amazing Melting Bridges

/
Believe it or not, this is a photo of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco, CA. The weird melting effect that you're seeing is a result of Google's attempt to add elevation to its Google Earth product. While perhaps a cool idea in theory, applying 3-dimensional models onto existing 2-dimensional imagery doesn't always produce the expected results. Case in point are these images found by artist and programmer Clement Valla. Some of these instances of bizarre and impossible bridges look like they belong on a Halo-esque alien world.
