West Memphis Doctor injured in apparent Lexus hybrid blast *UPDATED*

Dr. Trent Pierce was seriously injured after an apparent explosion rocked his Lexus RX hybrid this morning. The incident happened outside the doctor's West Memphis home, and early reports are dismissing foul play, suggesting instead that the vehicle's hybrid drivetrain could be at fault.*
CNN aerial images show the doctor's RX with severe front-end damage and the hood up and buckled. Interestingly, from the outside, at least, the passenger cell of the vehicle looks completely intact, leading us to wonder if the victim was in the vehicle or perhaps under the hood when the incident took place.

Dr. Pierce, a family practitioner and the chair of the Arkansas Medical Board, was life-flighted to a Memphis, Tennessee hospital in "extremely critical condition." Two others were reportedly injured as a result of the incident. Thanks for the tips, everyone!
