California school builds motorcycle with BMW power; seeking biodiesel speed record

A group of students from the Crucible, a unique industrial arts school in northern California, has designed a land-speed motorcycle that will run on biodiesel and veggie oil. Code named Die MOTO for diesel motorcycle, this two-wheeled project is powered by a BMW V6 diesel that I wish was available in the U.S. This team fabricated a custom frame and bodywork as well as engineered the drivetrain. As you can see in this very colorful and entertaining video, the bike has been tested at El Mirage. Hopefully the team is on schedule for a run at the next Bonneville meet.
