GM on the move, relocating 3,600 Pontiac workers

Get those file boxes ready. GM is set to relocate 3,600 workers based in Pontiac, MI to other locations as it continues its ongoing restructuring process. The moves don't have any job losses associated with them -- GM simply has excess office space now and it wants to consolidate workers in the name of efficiency. Most of the affected employees will settle into new digs at the Warren Technical Center, while some others will land in the Renaissance Center HQ in Motown. While the relocations are sure to tack on some extra mileage to many workers' commutes, they're a good thing in the long run for GM, as changes like this have to happen in order for it to get leaner and meaner.
The moves will take place by Q1 2008.
