Ford, Saab, join in alternative fuel group

/
U.K.’s Channel 4 reports that Ford Motor Co. and Saab Automobile AB will be joining BEST—Bioethanol for Sustainable Transport—a loose organization whose goal is to speed the introduction of bioethanol fuel to Europe. Other members include Genoa University (Italy), Umea University (Sweden), Imperial College (UK), and Tsinghua University (China).
Some of the group’s goals include the establishment of 140 bioethanol pumps to power eventually 10,000 bioethanol vehicles on Europe’s roads. (See here for details on one of Saab’s biodiesel-powered vehicles.)

The city of Stockholm will coordinate BEST’s efforts.
