Car rental habits swing in Enterprise's favor

For the first time ever, more car rentals are taking place in neighborhoods than at airports. Enterprise Rent-a-Car, which has cornered the market on the streets of America vs. relying on airport business, is fine with that. As more people buy more cars, more accidents take place. Temporary replacement (people rent a car while theirs is in the shop) is one reason why neighborhood business has overtaken airport business.

The Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor shared with the Detroit News that another reason for this is part of a new trend: people who need to haul mulch and home improvement supplies only a few times a year rent the big SUV rather than buy it. Families who only need the space found in minivans for a special family trip a few times a year rent one and stick with their sedans for the rest of the year.
