Nissan goes Columbia with latest X-Trail

For every successful brand alignment like the Ford's Eddie Bauer series, automotive history is littered with label synergy castoffs like the AMC Pacer Levi's Edition, Ford Focus Kona, and Nissan Villager Nautica Edition. But that hasn't stopped carmakers from having another go at hopping into bed with the latest apparel companies and sports gear manufacturer.

The latest pairing? Nissan of Europe and Columbia. The upward-swinging automaker has announced the 2006 X-Trail Columbia Edition, marking its alliance with the Portland-based activewear company. The freshly-monikered C.E. will replace the best-selling Sport trim.

A spate of promotional events scattered over 21 countries will attempt to convey "...what both brands value the most; robustness and advanced tehnology, the love of the outdoors and the true spirit of adventure."

Oh, yeah... and they'll throw in a Columbia Selkirk parka, too.
