Ford's "Way Forward" might not be so final

DetroitWonk shares with us that any decisions provided today on plant closings might not be so final.

Word from Ray's source is that Bill Ford, along with the architects of "The Way Forward" Mark Fields and Anne Stevens, believe that "fear motivates, not panic," and that today's announcements are more to put fear into the hearts of the likes of Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm than to announce the final word on job cuts and plant closings.

According to Ray's sources, the idea is to get governors of states in which Ford has plants, like Michigan, to start bidding. The winners will be the states that can provide the best incentives to stick around.
