Toyota troubles still brewing in the world's largest democracy

The issues between Toyota Kirloskar Motors Ltd (TKM), a Toyota Motors’ subsidy, and the Toyota Kirloskar Motors Employees Union (TKMEU), continue to be unresolved at the Toyota Kirloskar Motor factory near Bangalore. (Bangalore is the state capital of Karnataka, India). Nearly 1550 workers went on strike on January 3rd, 2006, in protestation of the dismissal of three colleagues. TKM had the strikers locked out of the plant and resumed limited production with non-union workers.
A mediator who met with both organizations separately on Monday was not able to reach a compromise with either party.
