Oklahoma begs GM to stay

On February 21, 2006, a General Motors assembly plant that builds the Chevy TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy will officially go idle, unless GM bites on a proposal offered to the company by Oklahoma state officials. Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry says the plan, which includes $200 million in bonds to help GM retool the plant, is the state's attempt to help GM make the plant more profitable.

The plant has 2400 workers that would be affected by GM's decision to close the plant's doors.
