Pollutants inside the vehicle

Last week the Detroit Free Press reported that studies by the Ecology Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, discovered that certain chemicals found in vehicles could pose health risks. The chemicals, PBDEs and phthalates, especially increase in the intense heat of a sealed car.
Reaction from the automakers and scientists has been mixed. The study is still recent and was not subjected to peer review. Also, already two of the PBDEs were not used in the U.S. while several of the automakers, such as Ford and Volvo, have largely eliminated others from their manufacturing process.
