The Big 3 is dead

DaimlerChrysler, or more accurately Chrysler Group Vice President of Communications Jason Vines, would like you to know that the Big 3 is dead. No longer are there three domestic produces of automobiles in the U.S., Chrysler and its brands having become one half of the German-owned DaimlerChrysler group back in 1998. It must be tough for the VP of Communications hearing us journalists make the same mistake over and over again when we refer to the fabled three of yore. It's true that only GM and Ford remain as the duo of domestic producers in the U.S., but it's just so hard not to think of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep as part of that group.

In order to drive the point home, at a recent Media Holiday Party held by the Chrysler Group, Vines emerged from a jack-in-the-box (aptly renamed flak-in-the-box) and pulled a Gallagher with a sledgehammer on a watermelon tattooed with the phrase "Big 3". Point taken Jason, "Big 2" it is.
